Richland Gateway at Columbia Place Mall
Richland County Government will relocate its core operations from the Administration Building on Hampton Street to three former store locations at Columbia Place Mall: Sears, Burlington and Dillard's. Columbia Place Mall tenants — including restaurants, clothing stores, gift shops and more — will continue to operate, and will hopefully benefit from increased traffic brought to the mall by residents conducting business with the County.
Relocating core services to the mall, located at 7201 Two Notch Road, aims to utilize preexisting, structurally sound space; help rejuvenate the shopping center and surrounding area; and make County services more centrally located for residents.
The mall location can house several County departments, such as Administration, Emergency Services, Economic Development, Community Planning & Development, Transportation and others. Richland County is responsible for providing operating space for multiple state agency offices, such as Elections & Voter Registration, public health and social services; these state agencies also will operate out of Columbia Place Mall. Richland County offices are expected to relocate to the mall in the fall of 2019.
